2007 - Qantas Girls from Oz Tour of Regional QLD
Forty of the most talented Australian Girls Choir performers from across four states sang and danced their way around Cairns, Townsville, Mt Isa, Winton, Longreach, Emerald, Roma and Brisbane on the 2007 Qantas Girls from Oz Tour of Regional Queensland.
The action packed fortnight included 8 destinations, 16 public performances and saw the girls present 20 school performances and workshops. A highlight of the tour was the involvement of Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce AC, Governor-General (then Governor of Queensland) who joined the girls in two towns and hosted the final performance of the tour at Government House in Brisbane.
Upwards of 3000 children ranging in age from 5 to 18 were involved in the song and dance workshops and performances. A particular highlight was the Longreach School of Distance Education performance and workshop during which the girls sang with children from across 400,000 square kilometres – the isolation of the children was striking as little solo voices joined in across telephone lines.
Tour highlights were shown on Qantas Inflight Entertainment.
