2007 - Holiday Program - Chiang Mai, Thailand
Girls from Oz staff Kylie Lee-Archer and Claire Birbeck travelled to Chiang Mai to lead a three week Performing Arts Holiday Program hosted by the American Pacific International School in July 2007. With a team of 6 staff from all over the world, they sang, danced and played with participants aged 2 – 17!
As well as their broad age range, the 24 residential student participants came from a variety of backgrounds, had varying levels of spoken English ability (from no spoken English to first-language fluency), and different experiences of the Performing Arts. The students participated in daily Performing Arts sessions, as well as games nights, talent shows and disco parties! The performance outcome of the camp was a one hour concert that the students prepared throughout the three weeks, and performed for their families and friends to rousing applause.
"I like every songs that you teach me. I also like dancing because it’s fun. I’m so happy and I have a chance to do a new thing. I feel more comfortable to speak in front of people."
Luknam (11 year old Workshop Participant Thailand)
"Thankyou so much for everything you did for this camp! I have lots of fun! First time I heard your voices, it impressed me a lot! You’ve done a really wonderful job here. It’s so amazing to see your music can connect everybody here together. Thankyou."
