Four years in Halls Creek

We are proud to be celebrating our fourth year working in the community of Halls Creek.

November 2013 marks the end of our fourth year working in the community of Halls Creek and we are delighted by what has been achieved since 2010:

  • Sixteen, week-long visits to Halls Creek by g-oz team members to deliver song and dance workshops not only to the girls and young women in our program but also to the vast majority of school aged children in the town,
  • Four excursions to Melbourne, Perth and Sydney which were designed to develop the girls’ performing arts skills and expand their horizons,
  • Performances by the participants at the 2010 and 2012 Halls Creek Music Festival, the Barramundi Festival in Kununurra in 2011 and at the Youth on Health gathering 2011, 2012 and 2013.
  • Establishing a strong relationship with Her Excellency, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO who visited the participants in Halls Creek, invited them to perform at a function in Melbourne, hosted a reception for them in 2010 in Sydney and a “sleep over” at Admiralty House for four girls in November 2011.
