Action Research Project

With funding from Lotterywest Girls from Oz is undertaking an evaluation of our program in Carnarvon. At the end of our second year working with the children and girls at Carnarvon Community College this action research project is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our successes, learn from the challenges we have faced and make improvements for an exciting future.

At the end of November, g-oz Program Director Kylie Lee-Archer, travelled to Carnarvon with Sarah McDonald from consulting firm Clear Horizon. Together they interviewed 29 people who have been involved in the g-oz program in one way or another. Participating girls, parents, teachers from both school campuses, school leadership and local community members were all asked to reflect on their experience of the program and to share their story of change as a result. Over the coming months the stories and data gathered will be analysed methodically by Clear Horizon who will also facilitate a workshop with program participants and stakeholders in Carnarvon in March. And in the interim - because why wait? - small improvements to the program are already being developed for implementation in 2015 directly as a result of the feedback gathered!

We look forward to reporting to all of our supporters the results of this evaluation.
