Testimonials
As an administrator, I value the professionalism of the Girls From Oz staff that organise and visit Halls
Creek. They are enthusiastic, energetic and committed to improving the lives of our young women. The
staff from Girls From Oz remain in contact with our students during times of absence, ensuring an
ongoing and permanent relationships. There is often a buzz around the school during their week-long
visits that often remains for weeks after their departure. It is amazing to see such an impact over a short
time period! Read letter..

What growth we’ve seen in the girls and their ability to engage in this program. Loving their enthusiasm and the pride they’re taking in what they’re doing. Thank you for your effort, energy and dedication to this program and to our female students. You are making a huge impact here.
Casey Mulder, Senior School Teacher, Halls Creek District High School 15.04.11
I felt so proud of you and the Girls from Oz and inspired again by the marvellous work you do in remote areas. I know how much planning, creativity, energy, professional skills, love and compassion went into the Halls Creek children and their community. The Girl Talk was magic!
Her Excellency, the Governor-General of Australia, Ms Quentin Bryce, AC
Thank you for an amazing and fun time. It was a great experience to be invited to join in on the singing and dancing. The kids not only LOVED it but I did too. Being involved not only got the kids active but it allowed them to build on their confidence which for my kids is a huge thing. I now need to follow you all and introduce more song and dance into class. It will be a hard act to follow too. I hope to see you all again soon. Thankyou again and see you next time!
Tom Sutcliffe, Junior Primary Teacher, Halls Creek District High School
The value the Girls from Oz program will add to our young people and to the future of our community cannot be overstated. It will provide education in a direct sense, it will lift self confidence and self esteem and by participants having the opportunity to travel from Halls Creek to other places and cities, it will broaden their horizons and provide opportunities for employment not possible within the confines of Halls Creek alone.
Sciona Browne, Manager, Halls Creek Better Life Project
I have really enjoyed g-oz coming to Halls Creek because they’re giving us the chance to shine, not be shame and to learn different songs and dances. I have enjoyed being part of the g-oz group because it has helped me to be a stronger person inside.
Melany Beardmore, g-oz participant, Halls Creek
The girls and boys are absolutely loving the program and want to do it every day!!! They have been asking me if it can go for the whole year, so well done on an awesome program, we sometimes find it really hard to engage these kids and every one of them is engaged with Girls from Oz!
Liza Greaves, Year Coordinator, Carwatha Secondary College, Noble Park
Dancing and singing is fun, even my little sister now knows the moves and how to sing songs because I taught her. One girl came up to me and said ‘how can you sing and dance like that?’ I said it doesn’t matter I’m loving it and I’m not shame. I also said I like to have fun, you should come and join in but she didn’t want to and she sat back down but that doesn’t get you anywhere.
